This elegant matching pair of Hibriten Chair Company, Inc. chairs are American-made reproductions of french-style furniture. Hibriten operated from the 1920s until the late 1960s or early 1970s, at which time it merged with a related family furniture company and changed its name. Hibriten was well-known at the time for its high-quality furniture, made with solid mahogany and walnut woods. Hibriten was the first American maker of reproduction furniture. These chairs are an off-white fabric with a repeating pattern woven into the fabric, which is 50% cotton felt and 50% hair (a mix of horse and hog). The fabric is therefore both smooth and comfortable and sturdy. The wood is similarly elegant but very sound and sturdy, painted off white with gold details. These chairs are in very good condition, with some fading of the fabric (as you can see in the photo of the makers tag, the pattern appears to have had gold-colored thread woven in at one point) and some minor scuffing to the paint. The chairs are 25"W × 27"D × 33.5"H with interior seat dimensions of 20"W × 21"D × 18"H. Price is negotiable.
