Tamarack wood dining table

  • Oakridge, Layton, UT
  • 0

Table is 108" long by 38.5" wide by 3.5" thick. Seats 10. Table's Top is made of Tamarack wood from Northern Idaho. Tamarack is one of the prized western woods because it is really dense. The pieces in this table are really old and the grains are very tight. It includes a German teralam inlay. Structural bowtie inlays hold the seam and also show off the craftsman's capabilities. The table's Base is made from wood that was used in bridge trestles that held the Provo pipeline, which was built in the late 1800s. (*pre-creosote*). The pipeline carried water from Heber Valley down to the city of Provo. The wood is over a hundred years old and as noted above, pre-creosote era. Advised care with beeswax. (i.e. Howard Feed-N-Wax wood polish and conditioner) We purchased this table at the Utah Art Festival in June of 2015. We paid $3500. Selling for $1400.
