-small, warm, and charming dresser/chest of drawers/nightstand -measures 29 1/2" long x 16" wide x 29" high -genuine antique circa mid to late 1800s (most likely 1871) -three drawers total -hand-crafted, high quality dovetail joints on each drawer -dark walnut wood -carved wood pear drawer pulls -some minor fading, splintering -back legs are somewhat damaged -some areas of worn finish and cup rings on top surface (keep in mind this is a solid wood piece, making it a perfect candidate for refinishing) This unique and lovely small dresser, or nightstand, is unmarked. There is nothing that identifies the manufacturer either stamped, pressed, or glued anywhere on it. But despite this minor roadblock, my experience with antiques calls my attention to several things which allow me to at least place it in its proper historical context. The use of walnut wood, the ornately sculpted pear drawer pulls, the hand-carved, triangular dovetailed joints, and the overall style of the piece all point to the Victorian era of the mid to late 1800s. Further, I've attached two pictures of the back of the piece showing what appears to be very faint cursive writing. I'm pretty sure the first few lines say "bought in 1871 by Grandma and Grandpa", although I can't make out the final line.It is clearly a quality item and a genuine antique. It has three-drawers, an attached backsplash/pediment, and is in good vintage condition, although it is by no means perfect. The back feet are worn and have begun to splinter, although the dresser still stands fine and has no problem bearing weight. There is no key to the locks on the drawers, and there is some fading and cup rings on the top. But keep in mind, because it is made of real wood, it is a great candidate for sanding and refinishing, and it would be somewhat suspicious if there weren't signs of wear and aging considering the piece is approximately 147 years old! This beautiful piece of history is a great way to augment your bedroom set, give yourself some added storage, or add some warmth, depth and character to any room in your home.
