American Federal Style Faux / Tiger Maple Grain Painted Wall Cabinet by R. Sykes

Sykes Item : #160909 I designed, built, and grain painted this medicine-wall cabinet based on traditional American Federal style. I finished the flush wall mounted cabinet September 2016 and it has not been used or left my shop. This cabinet is in excellent condition and offers no apologies. Dimensions are 18” wide X 12 1/2” deep X 29” high [Taken at the widest points] • New Bench Made Hand Worked / Hand Planed [2016] • Faux / Tiger Maple Grain Painted • Four Indivual Panes of 150 Year Old Glass • Semi-Flat Finish • One Fixed Shelf With Penna. Scalloped Cutouts / One Bottom Shelf • Traditional Penna. “Keystone” Ornamentation on the Top Crown Molding • Cock Beaded at the Door and Drawer Openings • Tired of foreign imports and pressboard • Solid Pine Primary Wood • American Made – Done One at a Time • Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish Hardware • Ready to Hang – Comes with Metal Hangers • Painted Beaded Ply Backboard The majority of my work is Design-Build and bench made one at a time [one of a kind design]. I strive to use solid wood in construction in my work and only occasionally use high quality plywood where deemed it would outperform a natural wood species, I hate pressboard, and MDF type products and you will never find them in any of my work. Finishes are applied by hand and often involve time consuming multistep processes to achieve an antique, vintage or worn appearance. The cabinets and furniture I build are made from a majority of reclaimed wood. While my work is design-build in the traditional style, the use of the reclaimed wood gives the piece an original worn appearance without beating up the piece to make it look old. When using reclaimed wood, there will be imperfections knots-knot holes, nail holes, scratches, dings and dents. Those imperfections are what make each piece stand out on its own from the next.
